I think the tune at the beginning of the recording is especially fitting, it reminds me of old carnival ride music. Of course, the Lincolnshire Poacher doesn’t have much to do with carnivals. Does it?

I listened to that tune at the beginning without being able to place it. But when it played again at the end, I came to me: “Vive l’Amour” (also known as “Vive la Compagnie,” which among other incarnations has been used by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts).
You are spot on. I just checked youtube and there are several interesting renditions of it.
